The Fireplace sweater is a cozy, cable knit perfect for cold winter days. It’s oversized and has a drop shoulder construction for an extra comfortable fit. It’s worked seamlessly from the top down with cables both on the body and sleeves. It’s worked with 5mm needles (US 8) starting from the back of the neck, then stitches from the shoulders are picked up to shape the yoke. The front and back panels are joined in the round to finish the body, and the sleeves are picked up from the sides. Cuffs, hem and folded collar are worked with a twisted 1x1 rib.

Needles: 5 mm circular needles (40 and 80-120 cm length)
4 mm circular needles (40 and 80-120 cm length)
Or the needle size you meet gauge with and a 2 sizes smaller needle
If you use the magic loop technique you don’t need the 40 cm length
Stitch markers, auxiliary needle, stitch holders or scrap yarn

Gauge: 17 stitches x 20 rows per 10 cm/4 in on 5 mm
needles after blocking, following the “Swatch” chart

Sizes: A (B, C, D) E (F, G, H)
Circumference after blocking approximately:
100 (110, 122, 134) 146 (160, 174, 190) cm or
39 (43, 48, 53) 57 ½ (63, 68 ½, 75) in
Consider about 30 cm or 12 in of positive ease
(Measure the widest part of your bust and add 30 cm/12 in, pick the closest number you see in the circumference measurements and follow the corresponding letter throughout the pattern)

Yarn: DROPS “Alaska” colour 61
1050 (1130, 1220, 1310) 1410 (1520, 1630, 1740) m
Or another DROPS “group C” yarn like “Air”, “Big merino”, or an aran weight yarn
I suggest using a lighter color yarn to make the cables pop!

Happy knitting :)
