Overview
The First Class Tee is the perfect basic tee of my dreams! I wanted a comfy tee shirt for wearing around the house, teaching at school, or even traveling. It’s simple, but it has thoughtful shaping for a fit similar to your favorite cotton t-shirt. It is oversized, meditative to crochet, perfect for learning new skills, and playing with color or yarn fiber content!

Construction
This tee is crocheted top-down starting with the back. The front panels are added directly to the top of the back panel, and both front and back panels are worked separately until joining at the underarm to work in the round. A ribbed hem is added at the end of the body, and a ribbed collar is picked up after the body is complete. Sleeves are picked up, shaped, and worked straight until the ribbed hem.

Suggested modifications for Short/Petite Fit and Tall/Plus Fit listed in the pattern.

This top is designed with approximately 2-6 inches / 5-15 centimeters of positive ease. My chest is 38 inches. My green and blue sample is a size 3 or 42 inches / 107 centimeters, and fits with 4 inches / 10 centimeters positive ease at the widest part of my chest, with the “Short/Petite Fit” sleeve and body modifications.

Hook & Gauge
4.5 mm / US 7
16 sts x 14 rows = 4 inches / 10 cm in Half Double Crochet stitch, worked flat & blocked. This will be considered your “Main Body” hook.

You may also need a hook 0.5 mm / one size larger or smaller than your “Main Body” hook for the ribbing at the hem of the body, collar, and hem of sleeves if your fabric starts to flare out or pucker in.

Use whatever size hook gets gauge! See gauge swatch instructions below.

Yarn
#3 - DK Weight Yarn
Green sample made in MadeByMacDye yarn. (246 yds / 225 m per 100g / 3.5 oz) – 75% Superwash Merino Wool, 25% Nylon DK yarn in the color “Lettuce Sea Slug”

As long as you get gauge and like the fabric, use whatever yarn you like and is accessible to you!
