The First Frost Ear Warmer Headband will keep you cozy warm during crisp Spring weather, the chilly days of Fall and during those cooler evenings throughout the year.

This pattern has been written with very detailed descriptions, that are further enhanced with a photo tutorial, to help with special stitches and to help create the crossover for the headband. Stitches used in this pattern are hdc’s, dc’s, sc’s and slip stitches. The headband is worked to specific measurements for each section of the pattern therefore, gauge is not listed for the pattern. The headband is worked flat and then is seamed together at the end.

You will need both an I (5.50mm) Hook and a K (6.50mm) Hook for this project and stitch markers are required. Yarns that have been tested with the pattern are: Vanna’s Choice (worsted) - approximately 77yds required, Lion Brand Landscapes (worsted) - approximately 86yds required and Loops & Threads Cozy Wool Roving (Bulky) - approximately 92yds required. The stitch pattern looks best with lighter weight roving type yarns or, yarns without much “twist” or plied definition to them.

The Pattern is designed for one size, to fit average women’s sizing or late teen. If sizing adjustments are required, going down a hook size (eg. to an H Hook) or up a hook size (eg. to a J Hook) for the body of the headband could help to either make a smaller or larger headband as required. a K Hook should always be used to finish the edge of the headband.

The finished headband measures approximately 4” wide, which can used as an additional guideline for ensuring the right yarn is used with this pattern when choosing a yarn other than the ones listed here.

Thank you for stopping by my listing, I hope you enjoy the pattern.
