Other loomers with suitable looms can make the hat. The loom is suitable if it has 48 pegs and can match one of the gauges given. The worsted weight version relies on 3.5 stitches/inch and the bulky version on 2.5 stitches/inch in stockinette. Row gauge is not critical as we can adjust for it.

KISS LOOMERS: The samples were both made on a modular regular gauge with 48 pegs. Any regular or small gauge Kiss with a 48 peg circumference may be used. For regular gauge looms, use NO washers for the worsted weight #4 yarn version and about 5 for the bulky weight #5 yarn version. For small gauge looms, add about 3 washers to those numbers. In all cases, adjust your washer count to match the stitch gauge.

The setup used for the samples places 12 pegs per side. This is a nice way for beginners to set up if possible because it makes the spacing very obvious and repetitive. A cable is made in the center of each 12 stitch side.

SIZES: The worsted weight version finishes to a relaxed circumference of 14”, the bulky version to 18”. They are very stretchy so the smaller one will fit babies to children 8-10 years old. The larger one will fit big kids and adults. In it’s relaxed state, the small hat will be about 6.5” long from center of top to lower edge, the larger one 8”. If the hat must stretch to fit the head, it will shorten accordingly. Therefore, several potential row counts are given in the pattern.

Terms and techniques are fully described to make the pattern beginner friendly. There is also YouTube support indexed on my website. The cables are the easiest possible version of cabling so that new knitters can learn to enjoy them without stress.
