Fish Socks
Designer’s note: I share my patterns for free so that they can be accessible to all, but if you liked my design and have the means, tips via Ko-fi are always appreciated! This helps me cover my designing costs while keeping my patterns free to download.
Dip your toes into some fishy waters with these fun colorwork socks, featuring fish and wave designs.
The socks are knitted top-down from cuff to toe, beginning with a 2x2 ribbing cuff, stockinette in the round, and stranded colorwork. The heel consists of a slipped stitch ribbing heel flap, heel turn, and gusset. The foot features additional colorwork just before the toe, which is shaped by decreases and then grafted together.
Materials
Needles:
- 2.5 mm (US 1.5) circular needles
Note: This pattern was designed to be knitted in the round on 80 cm circular needles using the magic loop technique and instructions are written accordingly, but feel free to adjust for a different length cord or DPNs if that is your preference.
Yarn:
This pattern was designed and knitted with Gründl Hot Socks Malcesine 4-ply in the color Pool Multicolor (Light Blue) Lana Grossa Meilenweit in Kobaltblau (Dark Blue) and Weiß (White), and requires the following approximate quantities:
- Light Blue: 35 g / 147 m / 161 yds (44 g / 185 m / 203 yds, 57 g / 240 m / 263 yds)
- Dark Blue: 15 g / 63 m / 69 yds (18 g / 76 m / 84 yds, 21 g / 89 m / 98 yds)
- White: 5 g / 21 m / 23 yds (6 g / 26 m / 29 yds, 7 g / 30 m / 33 yds)
The socks can also be made with any other fingering weight or sport weight yarn that can achieve the correct gauge.
