Fisker Sweater Children
A warm brioche sweater knitting pattern for children, worked from the top down. The neck and yoke are worked in brioche stitch with increases. The work is then divided, and the front and back pieces are worked separately, flat, in brioche stitch to create the armholes. The pieces are then joined, and the body is knit in the round on circular needles in stockinette stitch, finished with a brioche hem. Stitches are picked up for the sleeves, which are knit in the round in stockinette stitch and finished with a brioche hem.
Sizes: 1-2 (2-3) 3-4 (4-5) 5-6 (6-7) 7-8 years.
Gauge: 16 sts x 25 rows in stockinette stitch on needle size 6 mm US 10/UK 4 and 15 sts x 40 rows in brioche stitch on needle size 5 mm US 8/UK 60 rows in brioche stitch are counted as 20 knit sts)
Needles: Needle 5 mm US 8/UK 6m and 60 cm 16 inches and 24 inches) and needle 6 mm US 10/UK 4m and 60 cm 16 inches and 24 inches).
Yarn:
Brown version: 150-200 (200) 200-250 (250) 250 (250-300) 350 g Peruvian by Filcolana (50 g = 175 m 191 yds, color 973 Nougat Melange).
Purple version (knit with 2 strands): 150 (150-200) 200 (200) 250 (250) 300 g Alpakka by Sandnes (50 g = 110 m 120 yds, color 5224 Light Lilac) held together with 100 (100) 100 (100) 100-150 (150) 150 g Sunday by Sandnes (50 g = 235 m 257 yds, color 5224 Light Lilac).
Chest width: Approx. 63 (63) 68 (73) 73 (73) 78 cm 24¾ (24¾) 26¾ (28¾) 28¾ (28¾) 30¾ inches.
