Did you ever get gauge with a swatch just to find the knitted item was not satisfactory? Fitten, using 100% merino, is the third in a design study that explores the effect of different fibers in a reversible mitt.

Fitten is knit in the round using a variation of a “cabled horizontal rib” to create a mitt with both a decorative and a simple side. The rib, enhanced by merino’s natural elasticity, provides a comfortable fit across a broad range of hand sizes.

The pattern presents separate instructions for S/M and M/L unisex, reversible mitts using one skein of Peppino.

The Georgia Tech Fitten Residence Hall is named in honor of Louise M. Fitten. Fitten was a native of Atlanta and owned a boarding house. Well-respected among the residents of Atlanta, one of her tenants paid her in Coca-Cola stock, which was worthless at the time. However, her stock grew in value, and she became a millionaire. The reason why she donated money to Georgia Tech is still shrouded in mystery.
