Knitters who attend my demonstration on Sequence Knitting hosted by Hands On Knitting Center on December 6, 2021 will receive a copy of this pattern with their class materials. One sequence of stitches (k5, p3), knit two different ways, is used in this shrug. The one-row sequence yields a broken rib, used for the cuffs, while the main body of the shrug is a serpentine sequence, which produces an allover, textured pattern that rather resembles jacquard weaving. The technique of sequence knitting is described in the pattern, and the serpentine stitch pattern is charted to help you read your knitting.

Four adult sizes, based on height and corresponding wingspan, are included in the pattern. Also included are instructions on how to customize the size and fit of your shrug.

The shrug is a simple rectange, with the only shaping provided by the seaming and by the ribbing at the long cuffs. The knit-purl texture is easy enough for new knitters who want to expand their repertoire of stitch patterns. The required skills are:
* casting on and binding off
* knitting and purling
* simple seaming
