Fixation was created as a companion to Monomania. It’s a way to use up leftovers, knit some more chevrons if you just can’t help yourself, try out colors in preparation for making a Monomania, or knit a bunch of leftovers into some fabulous hats.

The hat uses a total of 240 yards of fingering or sport weight yarn. A four-color version takes about 60 yards of each color, and a two-color version takes about 120 yards of each color. I’ve mixed sport and fingering weight yarns in this pattern, with great success.

Note: Instructions are given for Short-Ribbing and Long-Ribbing Versions. The Short-Ribbing Version has 1.5 inches of ribbing; the Long-Ribbing Version has 3 inches of ribbing, making it fit more snugly.
