Please feel free to use for charity knitting. Maybe in a community garden?

I enjoy the whimsy of pink flamingos. In the summer, the peak around plants in my garden. However, in the winter, they look a little cold. I think they need a bit of cosy, don’t you? I started off with some stash yarn in a classic colourway of grey, red, and white. I think I may try to knit one next out of leftover Lopi yarn and make a yoke sweater. Or maybe take some inspiration from a fisherman’s cabled sweater? So many options! Let your stash inspire your colour choices.

Materials
• This sample was knit with Patons Classic Wool Worsted
o White: 25gm (approx. 135m/ 148 yds)
o Red: 10gm (approx.. 20m/ 22yds)
o Grey: 85gm (approx. 165m/ 180 yds)
If yarn substitution is needed, try to stick with a worsted weight yarn. This can also be accomplished by holding two thinner yarns together. The fit on this sweater set has some flexibility in it. If you are substituting yarns, it may be a good idea to do a test swatch. If your tension is larger, consider using smaller needles, and if it is smaller, consider using larger needles.
• 4.5mm needles (US 7), or needles which match your yarn choice and tension. A set of double-pointed needles would work well, or some double-pointed needles and a shorter circular needle, such as a 16 inch circular.
• Tapestry needle and scissors
• Stitch markers

Sizing
This sweater set is intended for a plastic pink flamingo which is 33cm/ 13 inches from neck to tail, and 38cm/ 15 inches around the chest. One size fits most.

Tension
20 sts x 26 rows = 10cm/4in over stockinette

Pattern Notes
This sweater set is comprised of a turtleneck, scarf, and earflap toque. The turtleneck is knit bottom-up, is seamless, and has a fold-over collar. There is a hole on the bottom to allow space for the metal dowels to connect. This hole can be thought of as an elongated buttonhole. The scarf is knit in a 1x1 rib. The toque is knit bottom-up, and is seamless. It begins with a 1x1 rib and moves into a stockinette stitch. The earflaps are added after. Skill level: intermediate.
