This is a Beginner Friendly crochet pattern for a poppy to be used for Remembrance Day or Veterans Day. You can use any #4 or #5 weight yarn. You have the option to add a button or crochet a black center.

Supplies:
Crochet hook (check which size is recommended on your yarn label)
Darning needle for sewing ends
Scissors
Safety pin
Hot glue gun and felt (optional)
Button (optional)
Red and black/green yarn

Suggestions for yarn & hook size:
Paintbox Cotton Aran (sport or #3) 4mm hook
Loops and Threads Impeccable (worsted or #4) 4.5mm hook
Bernat Home Dec (bulky or #5) 5.5mm hook

Helpful tips are included at the end of the pattern for making poppies in bulk.
The poppy is worked in the round without a sl st to the first st.
Stitch counts are at the end of each round in (brackets).
Finished poppies will vary in size depending on the weight of yarn that you use. Approximate size is 1.5-3” diameter.
