Flatwoods Monster
Included in this pattern are instructions and pictures to crochet a Flatwoods
Monster cryptid! Pattern is suitable to be used with any yarn type. Final size
and overall look of the finished object will differ depending on yarn used.
Also included is a text-only version of the pattern for those who would like
to print the pattern without the pictures.
The head and body are worked as one piece. Headpiece and arms are
constructed separately and will need to be sewn to the head and body.
Finished Size With Worsted Weight Yarn and G (4-4.5mm hook):
approximately 7 1/2” tall and 7 1/2” wide arm to arm if outstretched
Size will vary depending on yarn and tension used
Worsted Yarn Amount Used: < 1 skein of each green and red
Skill Level: Advanced beginner to intermediate
Pattern is written in US terms
Pattern is worked in continuous rounds throughout. Do not CH1 and slip
stitch at the beginning of each round to join
Read through the pattern entirely prior to starting
Pattern is written for use with any yarn type
Pattern is made by yarning under rather than yarning over, but please do
whatever you are most comfortable with. Note that if choosing to yarn over,
the look and size of your finished project may differ from what is pictured
May want to use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each new round
Each stitch is worked through both loops unless otherwise stated
Abbreviations used:
SC-single crochet
HDC-half double crochet
DC-double crochet
TC-triple crochet
Inc-increase (make 2 single crochet stitches in the same stitch)
Dec-decrease (I use an invisible decrease, but a regular decrease can be
used)

CH-chain
BLO-crochet in the back loops only
MR-Magic Ring or CH2 and SC starting number of stitches in 2nd CH from
hook
(X sc, inc) X-Repeat the stitches in parentheses the # of times indicated
Sl st, F/O-slip stitch and fasten off
Materials
Worsted weight or plush type yarn in:
-Red for head, headpiece, hands and arms
-Green for body/dress (headpiece can also be made in green rather than
red)
-Light/lime green for arm sleeve
Scissors
Small amount of yarn in desired colors for adding mouth/fangs.
G Hook (4-4.5mm) for worsted weight yarn
or plush type yarn
12-15mm safety eyes or can use felt/embroider/needle felt the eyes
Yarn needle
Fiberfill stuffing
Stitch markers
