This pattern is a stranded color work hat that is knit from the ribbing up. It was designed for a beginner color work class hosted by Rebecca Page of “The Makery”.

It is named “Fleur de Plumes” due to the motif that is knit on the hat. “Fleur de Plumes” translates to “Feather Flower” in French. The name was inspired by one of my test knitters, Alisha, who wanted to try something involving the “Fleur de Lis” motif that outline the center. With my intent of feathers being a part of the center motif, we decided on “Fleur de Plumes”.

SIZE: This hat is one size.

NEEDLES: US 4 (3.5mm) Ribbing, US 7 (4.5mm) Body.

YARN: One skein of Kraemer Perfection DK in two contrasting colors.
Main Color: Auburn (Orange)
Contrast Color: Summer Dusk (Clay).

The pattern calls for a US 7 needle for the body of the hat. This is not a requirement, but was done to make sure my color work was not too tight.
