This piece is inspired by the flight of the stormy petrel over a calm ocean, the cables are intended to imitate the gentle curves and the subtle caress of the ocean surface, along with it’s undulating waves.

Materials:
• One 4.5mm / US size 7 circular needle, 60cm / 23” in length, or size needed to obtain gauge.
• One cable needle.
• 3 (4) stitch markers, one of which is used to mark the beginning of round.
• Tapestry needle for sewing in threads.
• Blocking materials.
• Approximately 245m / 268 yds (327m / 358 yds) of DK or worsted-weight yarn. The sample is shown in size 1 and is worked in Nurturing Fibres Supertwist DK - 100% merino wool, in the colourway Petrel.

Gauge:
20 stitches and 28 rounds = 10cm / 4” in cable knitting, knitted in the round, and blocked. While gauge is not crucial for this project, knitting to gauge will ensure that your knitted item is the stated size, and that yardage requirements are similar to those stated in the pattern.

Size:
Two sizes, 1 (2), approximately 54cm / 21.25” (72 cm / 28”) in circumference. The cowl is approximately 30cm / 12” in height.
