“This is a pattern to make yourself an adorable knitted cat that is happy to sit on your lap for hours on end! Plus it is made without claws so it won’t shred your furniture either.

The pattern is knitted flat on straight needles with whatever yarn you want to use as long as you adjust to the right needle size for that yarn. And there are many, many yarns available that would be fun to try, like self-striping or really fluffy or furry yarns, The cat in the photo was made with worsted weight #4 yarn and is about the size of a small real cat. The last photo shows it posing with my very large boy cat, Ralphie, who was my inspiration for designing this pattern. If you want a large knitted cat then use chunky weight yarn.

The pattern is fairly easy to follow and has photos to help visualize what it is you have to do. One nice thing about making this cat is that you do the finishing type of work as you go along so the cat starts taking shape almost right away!

You need to be able to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, increase (any method you like best, really, but I called for knitting into the front and back of a stitch) and decrease (I used knitting two stitches together for the decreases). The pattern includes instructions about how to sew it up and stuff it too.

It comes in PDF format which can be read using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader that you can download online. The file is available for instant download upon purchasing. No physical item will be mailed to you.“
