Florence Cap
My first official pattern is a hat that was inspired by my originally intended first pattern - the Florence sweater (which is still in the works. Let’s face it, hats are easier and quicker to knit than sweaters). I chose the name “Florence,” which means blossoming or flourishing, as I was looking to create something to wear from early Fall well into the Spring. The lace acts not only as a lovely adornment to the overall look, but allows a refreshing, cool breeze to keep you feeling (and looking) cool all year long.
This hat is worked from the bottom up, in the round, starting with the ribbed trim, changing needles to create the lace, continuing the body with a garter rib, and ending with the crown. The pattern includes a chart for the lace section, but is otherwise completely written.
