A gnome, nisse (in Norway) or tomte (in Sweden) is very much like a house elf. They will help in the house and farm, and protect the household, but only when respect is given. Originally designed to be included in yarn bombing the Orkney island of Flotta, guarding the church door and the community tree, this nisse will spend the Christmas season inside or outside. It is also a useful doorstop.

An acrylic yarn is best if your gnome will live outside.
