This seamless, flouncy coaster is knitted in 4-ply held double and worked in the round from the centre outwards. Slipped stitches create a lovely pattern as well as provide thickness, strength and longevity – a sweet addition for any coffee or tea table.

The coaster is worked by increasing in the round from a single slip-knot. You can use either double-pointed needles or a set of circular needles using the magic loop method to knit round a tight circle – or a combination of both!

Once the right diameter is reached, begin working the flounces by knitting backward and forward for each flounce before joining it back into the round as a decorative bind-off.

No blocking is required – a hot cup of tea or coffee placed atop will see it take shape. For a matching Tea Cosy, see the Margaret tie-top cosy designed to fit the Ikea Riklig 1.5L glass tea pot, or the Lilliana tie-top cosy designed to fit the Anko (Kmart) 1L glass tea pot.
