Flower Blanket is made of hexagon-shaped modules with a flower motif combining lace, stockinette and garter stitch. Each hexagon is worked from the centre of the flower outwards and the modules are knitted together−detailed photo tutorials showing how to cast on and how to join the modules are included in the pattern.
You can arrange your hexagons in stripes of the same colour or randomly. The latter method will allow you to use up small amounts of yarn left over from other projects, as each hexagon only uses approximately 48 metres/53 yards of DK yarn.
The pattern is written for one size in DK weight yarn, but you can make your blanket any size you want, with any yarn weight−just change the number of hexagons and adjust needle size to suit your yarn.

Size
Finished width: 94 cm/37.5 in
Finished length: 130 cm/52 in
You can modify the size and make the blanket any size you want by reducing or increasing the number of modules.

Gauge (blocked)
Stockinette stitch: 22 sts and 30 rows = 10 cm/4 in, with larger needle(s)
Garter stitch: 20 sts and 40 rows = 10 cm/4 in, with smaller needle(s)
Each Hexagon Module measures 23 cm/9.25 in tall (measured from point to point) and 20 cm/8 in wide (measured from side to side), with larger needle(s)
Gauge is not crucial in this project, but any changes will affect yarn usage and finished size.

Yarn
Main yarn: Smooth DK yarn with good stitch definition,
in a solid or semisolid colourway; merino wool, cotton or
soft acrylic-nylon blends. Shown in various merino DK
yarns (100% superwash merino wool, 105-120 m/116-132
yds per 50 g). Note: You can use different yarns, but ensure
they have the same washing instructions, e.g. they all
are superwash.
Scrap yarn: Smooth DK yarn.

Total main yarn: 1930 m/2120 yds
Each Hexagon Module: 48 m/53 yds
Scrap yarn: 100 m/110 yds

For blanket with 4.5 modules joined into strips of the same
colour (as in the sample):
Colours 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 each: 220 m/245 yds
Border and joining colour: 390 m/430 yds

Needles and Notions

• Smaller needles, for border: at least two 3.75 mm/US 5 circular needles, at least 120 cm/48 in long, or size to obtain gauge
• Stitch markers
• 3.5 mm (US size E) crochet hook, for cast on
• Needle point protectors or rubber bands
