Knitrino is a new technology created by two sisters publishing interactive patterns. Knitrino is like Google Maps for knitting patterns: Click a stitch to see how to do it, highlight your current place, track your progress step by step, see charts in your yarn colors, see only your size, and more. Knitrino’s goal is to make knitting more accessible, and to help people grow into the knitters they aspire to be! This innovative app is for knitters longing for better pattern usability and navigation using small screens. There is no PDF associated with this pattern, Knitrino works on iOS and Android devices.

About the Pattern
There is so much to love about the Flower Fantasteek Cowl by Heather Storta, from the asymmetric design, the Fair Isle colorwork motif in 6 colors, to the tidiest buttonholes. But best of all: this pattern is an excellent way to learn or improve your steeking skills. A steek is a method used in knitting to knit in the round, typically colorwork, and then cut it to make an opening for garments or shaping.

Construction
This cowl begins with ribbing knit flat, with buttonholes, then 5 stitches are added for the steek column and it is joined to work in the round for the colorwork. Once the colorwork is finished, the steek column is bound off and the top ribbing is again worked flat. After binding off the cowl, you’ll reinforce the steek stitches using the crochet method, and then cut. Then you will pick up stitches along the cut edges for the button bands, block, and sew on the buttons.

Yarn & Kit info
This beautiful cowl features a Fair Isle motif in 6 colors in our very own Shepherding Yarn, and we have a few kits available with just the right amounts. Down the winding dirt roads is a small Merino farm with wool that is unsurpassed. It’s softly spun in a full palette of both natural colors and colors we hand dyed ourselves–we hope you’ll feel the love that is infused throughout! (We couldn’t decide which cheerful pop of color we loved the most so you’ll receive both Baby Flamingo and Canary. Pick the one that suits you best!)
