This is a very basic pattern for a crocheted baby hat.
I teach crochet and have been asked frequently for an easy pattern for something wearable as opposed to granny squares, etc. so I have designed a very basic hat pattern with guidelines to make it larger if desired.
this is an easy, basic pattern but in order to be successful I suggest you look up the stitches used and watch a video or follow pictures in a magazine and PRACTICE them before starting your project.
If you are a beginner or fairly new to crochet, you can’t just pick up hook and yarn and expect great results if you are not sure about stitches and pattern terms.

Pattern uses chain, slip st, single crochet, half double and decreases in the hat and also double crochet in the flower. This is all easy stuff to do, so give it a go!
It is written for baby size but if you want it bigger all you need to do is continue the increase round to the size of the head and then work more rounds to get down to wear you will work the ruffle. You may need more yarn for a larger size- I had about 10-15 yds left from the 109 yd skein I used.
