Flower trail
CONSTRUCTION
Flower Trail is a seamless short-sleeved sweater worked from top to bottom. After knitting the 1 x 1 rib, the neckline is shaped using wrap and turn short rows. While increasing stitches, the yoke’s colorwork is knitted using three colors. Since slip stitches are used, it’s easier than standard colorwork. Furthermore, combining slip stitches and purl stitches creates beautiful textured on colorwork. After completing the colorwork, work the second short rows to lengthen the back, then continue in the round until dividing for the body and sleeves. Sleeves stitches are placed on hold to work the body top down. The sleeves are worked from the top down in the round to the cuffs.
The pattern uses two contrasting colors, but you can also use just one contrasting color. There are four wavy lines created by slip stitches, but you can omit some—two or three—to suit your preference. Colorwork using slip stitches is much easier than it looks.
