Flowing Well is a beautiful drapey crescent shawl with lace short rows cutting through an easy slip stitch pattern evoking branches overhanging Cool Creek in Flowing Well Park in Carmel, Indiana; the inspiration for both the colorway and the pattern.
Flowing Well can be knit in 2 sizes for versatility.
Shawl
Yarn: 800 yards / 731 meters, fingering weight
Sample shown in Close Knit Fibers Fingering, 100% superwash merino, 400 yards / 100 g per skein, ‘Flowing Well’
Measurements: 76” / 193 cm across the top, 19” / 48 cm down each side
Shawlette
Yarn: 463 yards / 423 meters, fingering weight
Sample shown in Close Knit Fibers Fingering, 100% superwash merino, 463 yards / 100 g per skein, ‘January Sky’
Measurements: 58” / 147 cm across the top, 13” / 33 cm down each side
2 color Shawlette was completed by a tester using 150 yards of Color A (Gray) and 200 yards of Color B (Furever Friends also by Close Knit Fibers) on Size 3 needles for a 45” x 12” shawlette.
Needles
US 5 (3.75mm) or size required to obtain gauge, 24” / 60 cm circular
Pattern Notes
Pattern has been tech edited and tested. Full written instructions are provided along with the charts. The pattern is best opened using a browser vs. acrobat to make the best use of the embedded fonts to help with the row arrows in the written instructions.
