Floyd’s hat was inspired by a customer from my Etsy shop. This Cowichan-style hat has a double-knit hat band which can be folded up, for extra warmth around the ears. It’s a snug-fit beanie, and although I oppose the idea of a particular kind of hat being for men or for women (just wear whatever you like!), it does seem like it might appeal to men more than women.

It uses two colors of yarn, so you’ll need at least one skein of each yarn to make this hat. I used Berroco’s Ultra Alpaca Chunky, but you can use whatever chunky yarn gives you the right gauge

The double knit section is knit on size 7 needles, and you will switch to larger needles once you begin the crown. Because it’s so bulky, it knits up fairly quickly.
