About Fluffy Waves Socks

Fluffy Waves Socks were inspired by the calming rhythm of the sea – the endless rise and fall of waves, soft foam dancing on the shore, and the light breeze that makes you want to wrap yourself in cozy knits. I wanted to capture that gentle motion in a pair of socks that feel just as comforting as a walk along the seaside.

These socks are knit toe-up, with a diamond heel for a comfortable and well-fitting shape. Around the cuff, delicate fluffy ruffles are worked in lace weight mohair, adding playful character and a soft, airy finish.

The body of the sock has no strict charted motif – it’s more like a blank canvas, where the gentle fabric structure leaves room for your own imagination. More experienced knitters can experiment with color, lace, or cables to create a pair that is as unique as the waves themselves.

The pattern comes in three sizes (S, M, L) and is designed for fingering weight yarn (for the main sock) plus a touch of lace weight mohair (for the ruffles). Gauge is 32 sts × 44 rows = 10 cm (4”) in stockinette. Yarn and needle choice is up to you – just make sure to achieve gauge. Sample was knit on 2.25 mm needles.

Fluffy Waves Socks are my very first published design, released on my birthday, making them extra special.
