I’m calling this a waistcoat (UK) or vest (US) just because the back and front panels are permanently attached to each other, albeit tenuously. You could just as easily call it a ruana, although it has some shaping around the neck to lend a little more elegance. Either way it is a simple but attractive accessory and looks particularly good over a long plain dress.

Worked mainly in hdc, you will need to be comfortable making a foundation single row (or an alternative ‘easy’ option, chain/sc row), increasing and decreasing
