This hat is suitable for the whole family. It is worked upwards from the brim, with a stretchy ribbed main section which converges into the crown. The pattern includes sufficient length for a fold-back brim, or leave the hat unfolded and wear as a slouch-style beanie instead.

The simple unfussy stitch pattern is unisex in its appeal, easy to memorise and quick to knit, and stretchy enough to accommodate a range of sizes. Since the smaller sizes can be made from just one 50g ball of DK yarn, it also makes a great stashbuster or last-minute gift project.

You will need:
70 (85, 110, 150, 185) yds/ 64 (78, 100, 137, 170) m of DK yarn
3.75mm (US5) needles for working in the round, or size needed to achieve pattern tension
Darning needle, for weaving in ends

You need to be able to: work in the round, work common decreases
