“Foglie e Cardi” means “Leaves and Thistles” in Italian, and this shawl features lace motifs that resemble both. It is worked from the top down, starting with a garter tab, and has both charted and written directions.

The following skills are needed to knit this shawl:

  • provisional cast on
  • picking up stitches along a garter edge (for garter tab)
  • working lace stitches from charted or written directions

In addition to the yarn and needles that give you gauge, you will need a yarn needle to weave in ends and four stitch markers to complete the pattern.

Note: This pattern is eight pages long. The general information and directions are on pages 1 and 2. The charts are on pages 3, 4, and 5. The written directions are on pages 6, 7, and 8.
