After being Hobbit-napped and mistaken for ring-bearer Frodo at Amon Hen by Uruk-hai and Orcs, Merry and Pippin found themselves in grave danger. Although Saruman told his henchmen to keep the Halflings alive, hungry Orcs always kept a close eye on them as a possible next meal. While being carried across Middle-Earth toward Saruman, Pippin freed the leaf broach given to him by Galadriel and dropped it as a way for the Fellowship to find them. The leaves of Lórien broach came in handy a second time when Aragorn told Faramir about the fate of his brother giving his life to save the Hobbits.

Inspired by the legendary Lórien leaves, these beautiful socks will have you running for your needles to cast on the same way Gimli, Legolas, and Aragorn ran toward their friends after finding Pippin’s broach. Knit in the round from the cuff down, a slightly sparkly variegated yarn paired with a solid bring a bit of Elvish mystique to the wearer. Eight stranded colorwork leaves gently fall down the body of the leg, representing each leaf cloak pin given by Galadriel to the remaining members of the Fellowship in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. “Not idly do the leaves of Lórien fall” is stitched into the arch of the foot. A forethought heel is placed while knitting the body of the sock, then picked up after the toe stitches are grated together to finish the heel.
