Staying true to yourself can be both comforting and challenging, just like the combination of knitting garter stitch and lace. This shawl is cozy, yet lightweight, and features arrowhead lace and garter ridges.  Knit with an alpaca/silk blend yarn for warmth, strength, and shine, just like the characteristics you are made of. Knit your shawl with love, wear it with pride, and let it inspire you to follow your arrow wherever it points.

Materials:
Yarn: Approximately 400 yds/365 meters of fingering weight yarn, in a multi-plied alpaca/silk or other blend yarn. Two skeins of Earth Treasures Superfine Airy 3-ply yarn (80% alpaca, 20% soysilk, 210 yards/192 meters) in color Thunderhead (grey) used for sample.

Needles: US size 4/3.5 mm needles, or size needed to obtain gauge. 40” circular knitting needle is recommended.

Gauge: 23 sts/35 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch on US 4/3.5 mm needles.

Notions: yarn needle, stitch markers

Size: Finished shawl measurements after blocking: approximately 48”/121 cm wingspan along top edge and approximately 33”/83 cm depth along center spine.

Pattern Notes: The Follow Your Arrow shawl is worked down and out from the center of the top edge. Designed to make the most of that one special skein of fingering weight yarn you love. If you happen to have more than 400 yards/365 meters and would like to knit a larger shawl, there are sections in the shawl pattern instructions that can be easily increased. Necessary Skills: knit and purl, working increases and decreases, reading charts. Instructions are provided in written and charted formats. Please read through the entire pattern to familiarize yourself with its construction before starting to knit.
