Description

Knitting a beginner vest has never been easier! The Foolproof Vest is a slim-fitting waistcoat with 1x1 ribbing at the armholes and neckline. This beginner vest knitting pattern is worked from the top down and knits up really quickly thanks to the needle size. Whether you use a self-striping yarn like Cloud or a solid colour, the knitting pattern for a beginner vest makes the perfect companion for any season.

Begin by making a gauge swatch to check that you have the correct gauge.

SIZE GUIDE

The Foolproof Vest should have a range of movement (positive ease) of approx. 8-12 cm in relation to your chest circumference. The sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL fit a bust measurement of 78-84 (85-90) 91-98 (99-109) 110-120 (121-130) 131-140 cm. Measure yourself before you start knitting to make sure you have chosen toe correct size for you

The Foolproof Vest has a finished bust and hip circumference of 89 (94) 104 (113) 125 (136) 147 cm.

RECOMMENDED NEEDLE SIZE

Circular knitting needle 8.0 mm US11 80 or 100 cm) 16 and 40 inches
Circular knitting needle 7.0 mm (80 or 100 cm) 40 inches
Circular knitting needle 6.0 mm US100 or 100 cm) 16 or 40 inches

GAUGE

Stockinette stitch on 8.0 mm needles:

12 sts / 20 r = 10 x 10 cm

“Mohair Luxe” from Lang Yarns (25 g = approx. 175 m)

The Foolproof Vest is knit with two strands of yarn held together. One strand of the thicker yarn, held together with one strand of the thinner yarn.

Note that you will need more yarn if you want to knit the vest longer.
