Our family recently discovered an ancestral connection to Ireland and Scotland through our great grandmother Mary Powell. The makers in my family were excited to learn that our love for fiber and needlework was connected to lands so rich in this history. This cowl is one of 4 patterns in the Powell series that celebrates this inheritance.

The faux cables appear as small cabled eyelets and grow directly from the custom ribbing. This is an introduction to creating a fabric that looks like a cable and is easier than a cable.

The length and width can be customized. The cowl will drape beautifully with a hard wet block (as pictured on the model) or be left as knitted creating a “tight to the neck” fit (as seen in some of the test knits). The pattern is easy to customize to fit to the knitter’s specific fabric desired.

Happy Knitting.
