Pure Rambouillet wool — grown in Wyoming at Forbes Ranch and woolen-spun into a bouncy worsted-weight yarn — gives the Forbes pullover plenty of cozy luxury. This sweater is simply constructed, with minimal shaping and seams only at the underarms. Ranch 02: Forbes, Brooklyn Tweed’s newest ranch-specific yarn, lends depth and sumptuous softness to the textured yoke of this classic pullover.

While this pattern was written for Ranch 02, a limited-edition yarn, Tones or Shelter can be used as a substitute for the pattern at the same gauge.

Construction

  • The body and sleeves are worked circularly from the bottom up, then joined to work the yoke in one piece. The neckband is worked directly from the live stitches at the top of the yoke.
  • Short rows are worked at the base of the yoke, just after the body and sleeves are united; additional short rows are worked immediately upon completion of the yoke shaping. Both sets of short rows are incorporated to raise the back of the garment to provide a better fit at the neck.

  • 10 (11, 12, 14, 14, 16, 17, 19) skeins Brooklyn Tweed Ranch 02: Forbes (100% American Rambouillet Wool; 102 yards/50 grams)
