Forelsket Wrap
You’ll receive one PDF in us terms.
The Forelsket wrap is an extra large mosaic crochet scarf you can wrap around yourself on cold winter days or chilly summer evenings.
Why is this wrap called the Forelsket wrap? Forelsket stands for the euphoria of first falling in love. It is the Norwegian word for falling head over heels in love. And isn’t this the best feeling ever? Personally I think you shouldn’t limit yourself to people! I can easily fall in love with designs, food and my cats!
Mosaic Crochet is a fabulous and fun form of colourwork. Where other colourwork techniques create the design by switching colours within a row or round, for example tapestry crochet or the stranded colourwork technique, in mosaic crochet you don’t. Instead you work two rows in the same colour, leaving spaces to fill up with the next colour in the next two rows. Then also, you’ll leave spaces to fill in, in subsequent rows. There are two different types; overlay- and inset mosaic crochet.
The technique I used is called Inset mosaic crochet. It’s called like this because you’ll fill the ch-sps in by “in-setting” longer stitches (dcs) in the next RS row in a contrasting colour, leaving the ch-sps unworked behind.
As said it’s worked using 2 rows of each colour. You’ll be turning your work at the end of each row and will carry the unused colour up the side of your work. This will minimize the amount of ends you’ll need to weave in.
I’ve tried to make this mosaic crochet pattern as accessible as possible for beginners. I think it’s an excellent pattern if you’ve never tried inset mosaic crochet before. The pattern is easily memorable and consists of simple repeats. I’ve added a photo tutorial to make it even easier!
Skill level: Advanced beginner

Scissors
Yarn needle
Stitch markers

It would be even better if you manage to crochet more loosely than I did. (I’m a tight crocheter and especially my sc stitches are a bit too tight.) The only thing is, you’ll probably need more yarn.
