As the sibling of the Siberian Forest Pullover, the Forest Edge Cowl features similar but slightly simpler colorwork motifs. For those who liked the pullover, this cowl pattern gives a chance to perfect stranding skills before taking on a more ambitious colorwork project, or to knit up a matching set.

The cowl is worked seamlessly in the round from the bottom up, beginning with a Long Tail Cast On and ending with an Outline Stitch Bind Off. It incorporates floral motifs in shifting scales, and decreases form a funnel shape for a comfortable fit.

The colour-work motifs involve rather long floats. It is recommended to trap them leaving floats no more than four stitches wide and placing traps so that there is at least one stitch column between trapped floats in consecutive rounds. The chart of each motif is given in two versions: with recommendations of places for traps and without them.

Single color rounds between stranded rounds are knitted stranded too with two strands of MC yarn. This method helps to keep even gauge and thickness of fabric.
