When you are visiting woodlands and forests it’s important to watch where you put your feet because there are little people playing in the patches of sunlight coming through the trees.

Here we have 6 of these forest dwellers; Misses Primrose, Lily of the Valley and Bluebell. And Masters Oak, Blackberry and Blueberry.

The forest gnomes stand at approximately 8 inches/20 cm if worked in double knit yarn; you could use Aran of course and they will be a little bigger.  Their feet, legs, bodies and heads are knitted as one piece, flat and assembled. Arms and hats are knitted separately and attached. I found them a wonderful stash buster and had fun matching up my oddments of yarn to create them all.

I listed this design as intermediate only because there are a couple of elements a new knitter may need to look up, picot cast on and off and I Cord. Apart from these everything else is very easy and I do include a detailed making up guide with photos.
