Files:
• 41-page PDF: Detailed written instructions with progress photos
• Coloring page: Both digital and printable versions to help you plan your palette
Language: English (US terminology)
Difficulty Level: Advanced.
Stitches used: single crochet, half double crochet, chain
Techniques used: color changes (tapestry), crocheting in front/back loops, increases and decreases, invisible joins, sewing, embroidery
Materials needed: Refer to the final two listing images.
Colorwork
The patches feature “forest treasures”: a mushroom, beetle, leaf, and dragonfly, rendered using the colorwork technique. These motifs can be tricky in the beginning, so it is preferable to have a little experience in tapestry colorwork. However, they are small enough to be a starting point if you are an experienced crocheter.
The colorwork can be completed using your preferred method:
• Written Instructions
• Visual Charts (you can use the coloring page to add your own palette)
Try before you buy! If you want to test your ability to make a small colorwork before getting into the full project, you can download this PDF (it includes the pattern intro and the dragonfly patch): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/11ns2G4fSVsk3zmAL7...
Lining
To ensure your bag lasts, instructions for adding a fabric lining are included. Depending on what you will store in the bag, a lining is recommended for:
• Preventing stretching: Keeps the bag from losing its shape when carrying heavier items.
• Added protection: Stops objects from poking through or getting caught in your stitches.
• Easy maintenance: Makes it much easier to shake out dust or debris.
Note: You don’t need advanced sewing skills, as the seams will be hidden inside. If you don’t have new fabric on hand, this is a great chance to repurpose unused clothing!
