Formation Vest
The Formation Vest is a size-inclusive crochet vest pattern inspired by the natural rhythm of migration—the moment when movement becomes collective. Before a journey begins, there is gathering, preparation, and the quiet work of finding direction. Individual paths come together, patterns begin to emerge, and what once felt separate starts moving with shared purpose.
That idea is reflected in the construction of the vest. Worked sideways, the fabric travels across the body in a steady four-row repeat of double crochet, single crochet, and crossed double crochet. Each row brings its own texture, but together they create a rhythm that feels balanced, connected, and intentional. The crossed stitches suggest paths meeting, while the repeated rows echo the steady motion of moving forward.
Formation is designed as an easy layer for the shifting season, with continuous shoulder shaping, applied ribbing, and 2–4 inches of positive ease. It can be made in a variety of yarns, allowing each version to take on its own character while remaining part of the same larger idea.
At its heart, Formation is about what happens when we gather, align, and prepare for what comes next—not as individuals, but as part of something shared.
