Forsythia Shawl is a beautiful top-down shawl that’s enjoyable to make and features simple and delicate lace in a flower-like motif. The pretty picot edging adds a beautiful detail to this spring crochet shawl with a wonderful drape. This is a very feminine and elegant accessory that can be a perfect gift for mother, sister or friend.

It looks gorgeous just in any color and type of yarn, without a doubt. You could use self-striping yarn like I did here, or make it in a solid color. So many possibilities!

The pattern uses US crochet terminology and contains full written instruction and chart.

Materials & Tools:
1. Yarn SCHEEPJES Woolly Whirl 215g = 1000m, 70% Cotton and 30% Wool, 1 cake. For the shawl sample I used (478) Crème Anglaise Centre colorway.

You might need one extra cake of Scheepjes Whirlette yarn in matching color if your gauge is a little bit off.

  1. Hook size 3.5mm. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
  2. Tapestry needle (to weave and hide yarn ends).
  3. Scissors.

Level: Beginner +

Size after blocking:
Wingspan - 175cm/68.9”,
Center depth - 78cm/30.7”.

Gauge after blocking:
After Row 6 the triangle is approx. 7.5cm/3in high.

Gauge is not crucial for this project. However, changes might result in a different yardage requirements and the finished size.
