Fractal Mosaic Overlay
The FRACTAL mosaic overlay pattern was tested (image above) pairing Lion Brand Dk weight Mandala yarn in the color “Troll” with Paintbox Simply Dk acrylic yarn in the color “black”. A 3.5mm hook was used to construct the test blanket.
The pattern includes 2 graphs: 1 (one) full-size and 1 (one) partial graph. The partial graph includes one full repeat (both columns and rows), beginning with ST#5 on R7. The four stitches and rows composing the outer edges are included on the partial graph as well but are not included with the 42-stitch repeats. This partial graph can be printed on a single standard sheet of paper. It is helpful to know that the full-sized pattern graph is mirrored, making the final stitches of each row the reverse sequence of the first. If you are using the partial graph, be sure and study the full graph to understand how the pattern progresses. This pattern can easily be worked in its entirety using only the full-size expandable graph that is included with the pattern. For those who are not comfortable working strictly from the graph, row-by-row written instructions are included, below.
Written Instructions include: Specs, Glossary of Abbreviations, Graph Key and Designer Notes.
The pattern is worked along the length of the blanket. Instead of working bottom to top, you will build the width row-by-row. This allows the fringe to fall top and bottom of the blanket.
The blanket is a generous 50” wide and perfect for wrapping. If you wish to increase or decrease the proportions of the blanket, you will need to adjust your chain by counts of 42 for the length and increase/decrease the number of 42-row repeats for the width. This will increase or decrease the length of the blanket by an approximate 7.75” per 42 stitches and will increase or decrease the width by an approximate 8” per 42-row repeat. This, and additional information are included in the “Designer Notes” section of the pattern.
