Fragmentary
(inspiration from Ultimate Spinach and their Fragmentary March of Green)

~ fun and easy with so many possibilities for playing with colour ~

Make this 3-colour slouch hat with textured brim to match any outfit – the possibilities are endless! The brim is worked in a loop pattern stitch using three colours, but its seven stripes may be worked in two, three or seven colours - a great way to use up those odds and ends in your stash! (See Details page in photos for specific yardage of each colour.)

If choosing your own colour combination, choose one light colour, one medium and one dark; the medium shade will be the Main Colour (MC) in the pattern directions. The remainder of the hat is knit in Stockinette stitch.

Knit in the round from the bottom up, this hat may be made more or less slouchy by varying the length before decreasing for the crown. An Estonian Cast On is used for a nice stretchy start to this hat. Crown decreases are worked in a basic spiral pattern. The pattern is written for 6 sizes, child to adult.

Needles
US 6 (4mm) DPNs or 16” / 40cm circular or two 24” / 61cm circular needles for two circulars technique, or one 32” / 81cm or longer circular needle for Magic Loop technique
