This cardigan is knit top-down with DK weight wool. The colorful stripes in the yoke are knit one wedge at a time while each new wedge is modularly attached to the previous wedge. The contrast colors continue down the sides of the cardigan. This pattern is perfect for showcasing single skeins and leftover bits of DK weight yarn. Customize the cuffs with color and add afterthought pockets to complete this playful geometric cardigan design.

Sizes
1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9)

Finished Measurements
34 (38.5, 44.5, 47, 52) (55, 59, 63, 67.5)″ / 86 (98, 113, 119, 132) (140, 150, 160, 171)cm chest circumference. Measurements taken after blocking. These are the measurements of the knitted garment.

Size 5 shown with about 8″ / 15cm of positive ease. I recommend selecting a size that is about 4 – 8″ / 10 – 20cm larger than your actual chest circumference for a relaxed fit.

Approximately 1000 (1220, 1400, 1500, 1630) (1760, 1850, 1950, 2050)yds / 914 (1116, 1280, 1372, 1490) (1609, 1692, 1783, 1874)m total

MC - 660 (820, 900, 950, 1050) (1120, 1180, 1240, 1300)yds / 604 (750, 823, 869, 960) (1024, 1079, 1134, 1189)m

If you are knitting the optional afterthought pockets, then you will need approximately 100yds / 91m of extra yarn in a contrasting color.

CC2 - Sherbert
CC3 - Starfish
CC4 - Sand

The smaller sizes feature fewer Contrast Colors (CC) in the Yoke. I recommend knitting 6 (6, 6, 7, 8) (8, 8. 8, 8) stripes in each wedge of the Yoke, so you will need 6 (6, 6, 7, 8) (8, 8. 8, 8) CC’s for the garter stitch yoke stripes.

US 5 / 3.75mm circular in 40″ / 100cm length or 1 size smaller than the larger main needle

The Magic Loop method is used for knitting smaller circumferences in the round. Watch this Westknits video to assist with the Magic Loop technique.
