The Franklin Beanie is a bottom-up hat named for Rosalind Franklin, the mother of DNA. The brim is knit in a flat ribbon and grafted together before picking up stitches and knitting the ribbing of the body of the hat. There is an optional decorative cabling detail meant to look like chromosomes.

The hat is meant to use one 100g skein of DK weight yarn. Testers used a variety of yarns including a lace and fingering yarn held together and DK held alone.

This pattern has been tested in both sizes and fits a measurement of 22 (25.5)” / 56 (65) cm.
