Freeform Scarf
This project is made in strips, which are then crocheted together with a contrasting color. You can make a strips as long as you would like. I made three strips about 60” long. This is a very forgiving project. If you want your scarf to be longer, just keep adding shells. If you want your scarf to be wider, add strips; narrower, don’t make as many strips. Your only limits are your imagination, your yarn stash, and the gauge of your shells.
Yarn:
2 balls of Lion brand Amazing yarn or any worsted weight long color change yarn.
1 ball solid contrasting color also worsted weight, I used black for the scarf shown in photos.
Hook: Size H
Stitch glossary:
Sliding loop aka Magic Loop
CH: chain
SC: Single crochet
DC: Double crochet
SL: slip stitch
My strips didn’t turn out to be the same length, so I used my contrast yarn to add a couple of flower motifs, filling in the gap at the end of the strip
. One is a rose set in a pineapple square, and the other is a 5-petal Irish Crochet flower.
I can see these strips turning into other items as well, perhaps a pillow, a blanket, or a sweater.
