The French Farmhouse Washcloth is a classic, striped edged cloth with a subtle all-over textured pattern and a handy i-cord loop for hanging. It is suitable for personal use as a washcloth or as a dishcloth.
French Farmhouse is knitted in two colours of DK weight pure cotton, using a simple 4-row tuck stitch pattern and contrasting garter stitch stripes. The two sides of the cloth differ, yet are both attractive, so there is no “wrong” side. This is a quick and enjoyable knit, and makes an easy first tuck-stitch project.
The Tuck stitch pattern is fully written but is also accompanied by (optional) charts. All tuck stitches are explained fully. No stranding is required.
One 50g/125m ball of each of the two colours will make 3 identical cloths, or 4 cloths if you invert the colours for 2 of them.
The pattern is for a 20cm x 20cm cloth, but any even number of stitches can be used. If a squishier and larger cloth is desired, use aran weight cotton and larger needles (approximately 3.25 and 4.5mm).
