French Macaron Socks
by Cheryl Hall
I have a huge stash of self-striping yarn! Instead of a plain vanilla sock, I wanted a pattern that was a bit more interesting to knit, but still highlighted the stripes. The French Macaron pattern is not too complicated, and although there are cables, there is no need for a cable needle using a very simple technique of “twisting” the stitches to create 1x1 right and left leaning cables. And don’t those cables look just like little macarons lined up in a basket? Yum!
This pattern works well with a self-striping yarn with a 3-4 row repeat, but would also look lovely in a solid color also.
