Fresh Start is a fun, fast, and straightforward hat. A simple but engaging slip stitch texture creates interest without frustration. The hat is reversible, with slightly different detailing at the brim and crown on the reverse side. This pattern offers options for several types of brims and would look great in speckled or semi-solid colorways.

Suggested Yarn: Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted, #819 Beginning (100% Superwash wool, 113g, 225yd/206m). The knit sample required 74 g/148 yds (135 m).

Gauge: 24 stitches x 32 rows to 4”/10 cm in slip-stitch pattern, unstretched on larger needles.

Needles: US 6 & 7 (4 & 4.5 mm), circular and/or double-pointed.

Dimensions: 17.5”/45 cm circumference, 8.25”/21 cm deep. Stretches to fit an average adult head.

Techniques Used: knit, purl, slipped stitches, decreasing (ssk, k2tog, sl1-k2tog-psso), knitting in the round, provisional cast-on (optional).
