Frida Balaclava is a sweet and practical balaclava for babies and children, worked in moss stitch. It is knitted from the top down. First, a small rectangle is worked to shape the top of the head. Stitches are picked up along the sides, and the piece is worked straight down. Stitches are then cast on under the chin so the piece can be worked in the round. At the bottom, the piece is divided for front and back, creating small side slits. Stitches are decreased to shape the neckline so the balaclava fits comfortably under outerwear and provides warmth around the chest. Finally, stitches are picked up around the face opening and a ribbed edging is worked to frame the face.
