Frieze socks are knitted from cuff to toe and they incorporate a deep gusset for a proper fit. The sock design has a reinforced Dutch heel which includes a heel flap and a heel turn. This is my favourite go-to heel technique!

The ornamental cable pattern consists of 1x1 cables. They can be worked easily without a cable needle since they are essentially twisted stitches.

Frieze socks are designed for woolenspun sport (or even fingering) weight sock yarn. This pattern has zero or slight positive ease because woolenspun yarn has little “recovery” capabilities.

The pattern comes in two sizes: medium and large (women’s & men’s “medium”) However, you can also use these sizes for different yarns weights: for example knit the larger size with fingering weight yarn to get a women’s medium size! This is an unisex design so playing with yarn weights gives more sizing possibilities!
