The Fringed Brioche Scarf is in basic brioche rib. However it has a very exciting feature - a new type of selvedge. This technique is fully explained in the pattern with written instructions, diagrams and videos. Because of the nature of Brioche stitch its selvedges are worked slightly differently from Garter stitch selvedges.

The scarf is worked in conventional Brioche rib stitch. It has a rectangular shape and can be knitted as long and as wide as you wish. Any yarn can be used – from fingering to bulky.

This basic pattern is ideal for beginners.

Size

The Scarf can be knit any length and width.
Sample size: 15 x 175 cm (6” x 69”)

Yarn

Any yarn can be used.
Sample uses: 2 balls in colour 001 Ivory (MC) and 1 ball in colour 037 Zing (CC)

Yardage

261 yards of bulky weight wool yarn

Needles

8.0 mm (US 11), or size to obtain the gauge, for working flat

Gauge

8.5 sts x 22 rows = 10 cm (4”) square in garter stitch pattern using 8.0 mm (US 11) needles
